Job Description

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Software Engineer in the United States.

In this role, you will join a dynamic, fully remote engineering team dedicated to building secure, scalable, and high-impact software systems that support mission-critical operations. You’ll work closely with engineers, end users, and stakeholders to design distributed systems, improve database performance, and deliver robust, production-grade solutions. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in autonomy, embraces collaboration across diverse teams, and wants to contribute to meaningful projects that have a real-world impact. You’ll be empowered to influence technical direction, mentor peers, and innovate within a culture of excellence and purpose.

Accountabilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain large-scale distributed systems and database-driven applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including platform engineers and external partners, to deliver reliable and secure solutions.
  • Integrate software products into existing systems, ensuring seamless interoperability and compliance with security requirements.
  • Own end-to-end project delivery — from system design to deployment — while upholding best practices in performance, testing, and documentation.
  • Actively contribute to open-source communities through code reviews, feature development, and bug fixes.
  • Participate in architecture decisions, defining technical standards and frameworks for the broader engineering team.
  • Provide mentorship and elevate engineering practices through collaboration, peer review, and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies to continuously enhance product efficiency, scalability, and maintainability.

Requirements

  • 3+ years (mid-level) or 5+ years (senior-level) of professional experience in software engineering.
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Go or TypeScript.
  • Strong understanding of system design, APIs, databases, and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes concepts (Controllers, Operators, CRDs) and containerized environments.
  • Experience working in agile, distributed, and asynchronous teams.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical challenges, propose scalable solutions, and execute effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Bonus: Knowledge of Department of Defense software modernization projects or prior experience with highly regulated environments.
  • Self-driven, adaptable, and proactive, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
