This role focuses on ensuring a seamless and high-quality user experience for Firefox and other Gecko-based products on macOS. You will work on OS integration, stability, performance, and security improvements while collaborating closely with distributed engineering teams. The position involves developing and shipping new features, resolving bugs, and contributing to the open-source codebase. You will have the opportunity to deepen your expertise in macOS systems programming, native frameworks, and web technologies while participating in cross-team technical discussions, code reviews, and problem-solving initiatives. Accountabilities:

  • Develop, test, and deliver fixes and new features for Firefox on macOS to enhance performance, security, and user experience.
  • Investigate crash reports, user-submitted bugs, and system-level issues to improve software stability and reliability.
  • Work with the open-source Mozilla codebase across multiple languages including C, C++, Rust, Objective-C, JavaScript, and HTML/CSS.
  • Collaborate with distributed teams, participating in design discussions, planning, and code reviews to ensure alignment and quality.
  • Document design choices and technical solutions to support knowledge sharing and foster team learning.
  • Support OS integration tasks such as sandboxing, crash reporting, and implementing macOS-specific features.

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience in systems programming with C, C++, Objective-C, or Rust.
  • Familiarity with macOS application development, including native frameworks like AppKit or Cocoa (preferred but not required).
  • Knowledge of web technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Ability to thrive in a distributed team environment and contribute effectively across time zones.
