Data Engineer (Remote - US)

The Data Engineer will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining robust data pipelines that support innovative applications in higher education and research. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including backend developers, UX researchers, product managers, and subject-matter experts to ensure reliable data ingestion, validation, and analytics. This role offers the opportunity to influence product features, improve data workflows, and contribute to projects with real-world impact on students, educators, and institutional partners. You will leverage modern cloud-based data platforms and analytics solutions to combine multiple datasets into actionable insights while adhering to best practices for data quality and integrity. Accountabilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain flexible and reliable data pipelines for ingesting heterogeneous institutional data.
• Develop validation tooling and documentation to onboard new institutional partners efficiently.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate backend systems, analytics platforms, and user-facing applications.
• Combine institutional data with application usage data to support user experience research and inform product strategy.
• Ensure data integrity, consistency, and reproducibility across all datasets used for analysis and reporting.
• Support rapid prototyping and the iterative development of novel data-driven products.

• 2–3 years of experience building robust data ingestion and validation pipelines feeding relational databases such as Postgres, MySQL, or Oracle.
• Advanced proficiency with SQL and experience with data warehouse or analytics platforms such as Spark, Databricks, or Redshift.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across multifunctional teams including engineers, UX designers, product managers, and subject-matter experts.
• Familiarity with student information systems, higher education data, or similar domains is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
