As a Sr. AI Data Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain scalable AI and data pipelines that empower advanced machine learning and AI initiatives. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality data infrastructure, enabling predictive analytics, model retraining, and deployment at scale. In this role, you will play a critical part in enhancing AI capabilities, supporting data-driven decision-making, and driving innovative solutions across a suite of products. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to impactful projects in a collaborative, remote-first environment where your expertise will directly influence strategic outcomes and the effectiveness of AI solutions.
Accountabilities:
- Design, develop, and operate robust, scalable AI data pipelines supporting applied AI and ML workflows.
- Execute initiatives for collecting, normalizing, and storing data from multiple sources, including external providers.
- Collaborate with AI R&D, Applied AI, and Data Platform teams to ensure data quality and seamless flow.
- Support exploratory data initiatives and contribute to AI research by providing structured datasets.
- Maintain clear communication across teams, sharing insights on data infrastructure needs and potential innovations.
- Stay current with emerging AI and data engineering tools and recommend improvements to enhance infrastructure.
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in data engineering, preferably focused on AI/ML data infrastructure.
- Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation); experience with orchestration frameworks such as Airflow, Prefect, or dbt.
- Experience with cloud-native data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, Qdrant, Chroma).
- Knowledge of MLOps tools and platforms (HuggingFace, SageMaker Bedrock, Vertex AI) and experiment tracking (MLflow, Weights & Biases).
- Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), embedding generation, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems, and orchestration frameworks (LiteLLM, LangChain, LangFuse, LlamaIndex).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams.
Desired Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience in AI-focused data engineering projects.
- Technical leadership or mentorship experience.
- Experience in EdTech or academic integrity sectors.
- Familiarity with NLP, computer vision, or multimodal AI applications.
- Experience with data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Streamlit).
- Experience with AI coding tools (Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot).
