As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing enterprise-grade VMware and HP storage infrastructures while supporting broader system engineering functions such as backup solutions, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365. You will lead key infrastructure initiatives to ensure performance, resiliency, and operational excellence, particularly within remotely managed environments. Additionally, you will mentor peers and provide strategic insight into hybrid environment design and future-state architecture planning.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Core Infrastructure & Virtualization

•Manage VMware vSphere/ESXi environments, including provisioning, HA/DR setup, snapshots, and performance tuning

•Administer HP storage systems (3PAR, Alletra, Nimble, or MSA) including LUN provisioning, tiering, and fault resolution

•Maintain physical servers remotely using iLO or equivalent out-of-band management tools

•Perform capacity planning, patching, and upgrades across the virtual and physical infrastructure estate

•Monitor systems and respond to alerts/incidents using Splunk, Veeam ONE, and other enterprise tools

Application Support

•Collaborate in managing services like Active Directory, Veeam Backup & Replication, and HP storage-based backups

•Contribute to the support and improvement of M365

•Provide Level 2 escalated support for infrastructure-related incidents and changes

Automation & Documentation

•Develop PowerShell scripts or other automation tools to streamline operations and reporting

•Maintain accurate system documentation, diagrams, and knowledge base content

•Participate in change and release management meetings and uphold ITIL-aligned service operations

Mentoring & Strategic Contribution

•Mentor junior system engineers and share best practices

•Provide technical input for roadmaps and architecture review

Must-have Skills / Qualification:

•Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience configuring, maintaining, and upgrading VMware environments, including vCenter, ESXi hosts, vMotion setups, DRS clusters, and HA failover configurations

•Strong experience in Microsoft 365 administration and services integration

•Experience in system monitoring and backup platforms (e.g., Veeam, Splunk)

•Familiarity with Windows Server, Active Directory, and cloud concepts

•Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills

Advantageous or Nice-to-Have Skills/Experience:

•Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Science, Engineering or related

•Industry Certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Microsoft 365 Certifications, and other relevant certifications

•Basic Networking Experience

•Experience managing HP enterprise storage platforms (e.g., 3PAR, Nimble, or MSA), including LUN creation, storage tiering, firmware upgrades, and hardware RAID configuration and troubleshooting

•Experience administering physical servers, including performing BIOS/firmware updates, hardware diagnostics, and remote lifecycle management using tools such as HPE Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) or similar

•Scripting proficiency (e.g., PowerShell, Bash)

•Experience working with Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence in an operational capacity

•General exposure to Active Directory structure, group policy management, and domain services
