This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide technical leadership in the engineering and design of electric substations up to 500 kV. You will work remotely while leading complex projects, creating electrical protection, control, and physical design deliverables. The position involves mentoring team members, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and supporting clients across the U.S. You will contribute to innovative solutions in transmission and distribution substations while improving engineering processes, tools, and standards. This position is ideal for a senior engineer with strong analytical skills, technical expertise, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead and mentor engineers and designers, ensuring technical excellence and project success.
  • Oversee and review substation engineering and consulting deliverables, including layouts, plans, grounding, lightning protection, cable routing, and AC/DC power systems.
  • Act as project lead or independent reviewer, supporting project conceptualization, planning, and execution.
  • Provide technical guidance for clients and assist with business development initiatives.
  • Perform quality reviews and conduct field visits for site assessments, constructability reviews, and construction support.
  • Collaborate with project teams, coordinating with other disciplines to ensure comprehensive substation design.
  • Develop and improve internal processes, tools, and technologies to enhance project delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master’s degree considered as part of total experience.
  • Senior Engineer I: 7+ years related experience; Senior Engineer II: 10+ years; Senior Engineer III: 15+ years with PE required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with NESC, IEEE, and other relevant codes and standards.
  • Demonstrated experience creating and reviewing substation design drawings.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead remote teams, organize complex assignments, and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Exceptional communication, client relations, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency with software applications used in substation design and project execution.
