Treantly is a Canadian-based recruitment agency that facilitates the connection between businesses in North America and exceptional remote staff in the Philippines.
The Accounting Controller is responsible for overseeing the quality and accuracy of financial work completed by the bookkeeping team. This role ensures that all accounting outputs meet professional standards and deadlines while maintaining clean, compliant records in QuickBooks Online.
You will review reports, reconciliations, and financial statements prepared by bookkeepers, provide feedback for improvement, and help streamline internal processes. The ideal candidate has strong accounting expertise, leadership ability, and excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively with internal staff and management.
Job Responsibilities:
- Review and oversee the work of bookkeepers to ensure accuracy and adherence to accounting standards.
- Perform quality control checks on reconciliations, journal entries, payables, and receivables.
- Prepare and review month-end and year-end closing reports.
- Monitor and improve internal accounting processes and reporting consistency.
- Ensure data integrity and compliance with company and industry accounting policies.
- Support internal audits and ensure readiness for client financial reviews.
- Provide feedback and guidance to bookkeepers to maintain consistent quality.
- Communicate effectively with management to relay financial updates, discrepancies, and improvement recommendations.
Requirements
Must-Have Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a review or controller capacity.
- Proven experience with QuickBooks Online (multi-entity experience preferred).
- Strong understanding of small to medium business accounting practices.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and organizational abilities.
- Comfortable working independently and remotely within the PST time zone.
Nice-To-Have Requirements:
- CPA designation or equivalent (asset, not required).
- Experience in an outsourcing or multi-client environment.
- Familiarity with workflow management tools like Hubstaff, Asana, or ClickUp.
