Job Description

The Principal Architect, is responsible for owning and evolving D&B's Target Architecture across Products, Data, Data Supply Chain and Corporate Systems.
Driving technology modernization, consolidation and strategic transformation through architecture roadmaps and standards and acting as a trusted advisor to business and technology leaders, ensuring investments align with long-term business and technology objectives.
This role will guide senior engineers, influence architecture and delivery decisions, and ensure that technical designs are grounded in operational reality, customer value and measurable outcomes. 

Responsibilities

Essential responsibilities:

  • Define and communicate target architecture strategy and roadmaps for platform modernization, consolidation and platform rationalization.
  • Align technology initiatives with business priorities.
  • Provide architectural leadership, guide solution design and key technology decisions. Lead architecture reviews, define standard and governance.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and adoption opportunities and share these with leadership.
  • Support data, analytics, AI and automation initiatives. 
  • Promote scalable secure and reusable architecture patterns. Partner with Product, Engineering, Data, Security and Business teams.
  • Communicate and align architectural direction with measurable business and customer outcomes.
  • Mentor senior engineers and technical leads, foster strong design thinking and shared ownership, and help build a culture that balances customer focus, engineering excellence and pragmatic delivery. 
  • Essential skills and/or certifications:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline,
  • 12+ years of Enterprise, Solution development or Domain Architecture experience, including significant ownership of complex, distributed, data-intensive systems.
  • Strong technical depth and practical engineering experience, with the ability to challenge designs, evaluate implementation trade-offs, participate meaningfully in design and code reviews where appropriate, and ensure architectural direction is grounded in delivery and operational reality.
  • Experience with technology transformation and governance.
  • In-depth understanding of cloud architecture and operations in secure, resilient and multi-region environments. Experience with Google Cloud is advantageous, alongside the ability to work across a diverse enterprise technology landscape.
  • Strong understanding of AI, analytics and modern engineering practices
  • Strong understanding of cloud, integration, data, application and platform architectures, including modern API, event-driven and distributed-system patterns.
  • Experience architecting complex, distributed and data-intensive platforms using modern cloud, data processing, integration, messaging, analytics and information-management technologies. Experience with relevant technologies such as Kafka, Spark, Airflow, Snowflake, Databricks, Elasticsearch or equivalent platforms is beneficial.
  • Strong understanding of modern software delivery practices including CI/CD, automated testing, infrastructure as code, secure coding, observability, incident learning and operational readiness.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite skills
