Job Description

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a NSWCPD Database Engineer I in the United States.

This entry-level engineering role offers an opportunity to contribute to advanced logistics and readiness modeling for naval systems. The Database Engineer I will assist in developing and validating models that enhance fleet readiness, reduce lifecycle costs, and optimize system performance. You will work closely with a collaborative team of engineers, analysts, and program managers to gather and organize data, support reliability assessments, and run simulations. This position provides hands-on experience with modeling tools, data analysis, and technical documentation while fostering professional growth in naval sustainment and systems engineering. Success in this role comes from attention to detail, technical curiosity, and the ability to work effectively in a structured, mission-focused environment.

Accountabilities

·         Assist in the development and execution of Readiness Based Sparing (RBS) models to improve system availability and performance.

·         Gather, organize, and validate engineering and maintenance data from systems such as DECKPLATE, OARS, and ReMAD.

·         Support reliability and logistics analyses, including part criticality assessment, maintenance thresholds, and system interdependencies.

·         Develop and update technical diagrams, including Reliability Block Diagrams (RBDs) and Functional Block Diagrams (FBDs).

·         Conduct basic simulations, such as Monte Carlo analyses, to evaluate system readiness and cost-performance trade-offs.

·         Document modeling results in technical reports, summaries, and presentations for program stakeholders.

·         Maintain data integrity, version control, and traceability of all inputs and outputs.

·         Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely, accurate, and high-quality model deliverables.

·         Participate in process improvements and continuous learning to enhance modeling accuracy and efficiency.

Requirements

·         Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

·         1–3 years of professional experience in engineering, logistics, or a related technical discipline.

·         Foundational knowledge of engineering modeling principles, reliability analysis, and logistics processes.

·         Familiarity with simulation or reliability software (e.g., OPUS Suite, SIMLOX) is preferred.

·         Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, configuration data, and technical manuals.

·         Understanding of reliability metrics such as MTBF, MTTR, and operational availability (Ao).

·         Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and basic data visualization or analytical tools.

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members.

·         Active Secret clearance required.
