Job Description

Real opportunities. Real impact. Your career, redefined.

(NOTE: A human reviews every application at Oceans, so please apply for only one position and only once a year—if you're a better fit for another role, we’ll route your application accordingly and if we’re not quite ready for you, we’ll reach back out later).

At Oceans, we believe that talent knows no boundaries. That’s why we connect the best and brightest professionals with career-defining opportunities that challenge, inspire, and accelerate their career growth. Our community, whom we call Divers, don’t just work—they dive deep, solve complex challenges, and make a real impact with global industry leaders. And in doing so, they don’t just support bold ideas—they expand their skills, broaden their expertise, and grow their careers.

We’re hiring a Full Stack Engineer (Partner APIs & Embedded SDK) to partner with a financial technology platform revolutionizing small-business lending through embedded integrations. The company streamlines how loan data is collected, verified, and delivered between SMB ecosystems and lending partners. Following a successful pilot, they’re now rebuilding the platform from the ground up — introducing partner data-ingestion APIs and a fully embeddable lending SDK that will power the next generation of small-business financing.

If you’re a pragmatic builder who thrives in zero-to-one environments and wants full ownership of architecture, tooling, and delivery for a fintech product with real-world impact, this opportunity is designed for you.

Accountability

As a Full-Stack Engineer, your success will be defined by your ability to design and build scalable APIs and SDKs that power partner integrations and embedded lending experiences. You’ll help define core infrastructure, DevOps pipelines, and early engineering culture — taking ownership of the platform from inception to deployment.

Here’s how you’ll make an impact:

Platform Architecture & Development

  • Design and implement partner authentication, data sync, and webhook delivery systems.
  • Build a developer-friendly Embedded Lending SDK (UI primitives + headless hooks) for seamless partner integration.
  • Develop and document RESTful or GraphQL APIs to exchange borrower and loan data between systems.
  • Collaborate closely with design and product teams to ensure embedded experiences meet partner UX and security standards.

Integrations & Data Enrichment

  • Integrate with third-party providers (e.g., Plaid, Codat, Alloy, QuickBooks) for KYC/KYB and financial data enrichment.
  • Establish reliable data pipelines for partner ingestion and reporting.
  • Maintain high security and compliance standards across all integrations.

DevOps & Infrastructure

  • Set up initial DevOps pipelines, observability tools, and CI/CD processes in GCP or similar environments.
  • Define best practices for monitoring, testing, and secrets management.
  • Ensure auditability, role-based access control, and data privacy compliance.

Documentation & Developer Enablement

  • Create detailed documentation, sample integrations, and developer guides.
  • Build sandbox environments and demo applications to accelerate partner onboarding.

Colleagues

You’ll work directly with the Head of Engineering and collaborate closely with product and design teams. This is a highly visible, foundational role where your technical decisions will shape the future of the product.

At Oceans, you’ll also receive guidance and support from our Operations Manager, who will help you succeed in the role and ensure that you’re continuously growing and developing in your career.

Skills & Qualifications

At Oceans, we believe in T-shaped individuals — those who bring deep expertise in one area, paired with broad curiosity and interests. As a Full-Stack Engineer, your vertical focus will be in backend and API development, while your horizontal strengths will include infrastructure, SDK development, and collaboration across cross-functional teams.

To excel in this role, you should have:

  • Experience: 5+ years as a full-stack engineer in a high-growth or startup environment.
  • Technical Stack: Strong proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript (preferred), or Python.
  • APIs: Experience designing REST/GraphQL APIs, including versioning, pagination, and webhook systems.
  • Frontend SDKs: Proficiency in modern JS/TS packaging, secure embed patterns, and UI component design.
  • Infrastructure: Familiarity with GCP or AWS, Docker, CI/CD setup, and monitoring tools.
  • Security: Deep understanding of data privacy, encryption, and role-based access control.
  • Fintech Background: Prior experience in lending, payments, or financial data integrations is a strong plus.

Bonus skills:

  • Experience in early-stage or greenfield engineering environments.
  • Knowledge of schema design and ORM frameworks (Postgres preferred).
  • Familiarity with developer documentation and sample app creation.
  • Interest in building scalable, compliant systems in regulated industries.

Diversity of experience is core to Oceans. You are expected to work inclusively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds, ensuring that both personal and collective dignity are supported.

During the interview process, you’ll have the opportunity to showcase your skills in the following areas:

  • Architecture Design: How you’ve approached zero-to-one platform builds.
  • API Development: Your ability to design and document clean, reliable partner APIs.
  • SDK Engineering: How you’ve built or contributed to embeddable UI frameworks.
  • Infrastructure & CI/CD: How you’ve established DevOps workflows in past roles.
  • Security & Compliance: How you’ve ensured data protection and auditability at scale.

Role Specifications

This is a remote role, where you will be expected to work a split shift with some overlap with our client’s time zone. You will, however, be expected to be present for in-person training programs during your first 90 days with us. During the offer process, we’ll share more information about our benefits and compensation philosophy, considering both market trends and individual factors.
