In this role, you will contribute to the development of an advanced bioinformatics platform, focusing on enhancing the user interface and improving the efficiency of data visualization. You will work closely with scientists to translate complex datasets into interactive, intuitive dashboards that support scientific analysis and decision-making. This part-time position allows you to apply your front-end development expertise in a collaborative, innovative, and remote environment, while engaging with cutting-edge data visualization technologies. Your work will have direct impact on improving workflows, reporting, and user experience for scientific applications. The role is ideal for developers who enjoy combining technical skills with creative problem-solving in a scientific context.

Accountabilities

  • Integrate the existing Python backend with Plotly, React, and OpenSeaDragon front-end frameworks for advanced data visualization.
  • Develop interactive dashboards for quality control metrics, single-cell statistics, and spatial biology analysis.
  • Collaborate with scientists to refine workflows, visual outputs, and data export options (graphs, CSVs, and reports).
  • Write clean, maintainable code and assist in documenting deployment processes and best practices.
  • Ensure dashboards are performant and scalable to handle large scientific datasets.

Requirements

  • Strong Python development experience, including libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, and FastAPI.
  • Hands-on experience with front-end frameworks such as React and data visualization tools like Plotly and OpenSeaDragon.
  • Experience handling large scientific datasets, preferably bioimaging formats (OME-TIFF a plus).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including scientists and engineers.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to write maintainable, well-documented code.
  • Previous experience in developing dashboards or interactive visualization platforms is highly desirable.
