This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Freelance Project Manager - Medical Communications in the United States.

This role offers an opportunity to lead and manage complex medical communications projects from start to finish in a dynamic and collaborative environment. You will oversee project planning, content development, advisory boards, and speaker training while coordinating multidisciplinary teams. Your work will ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with strategic objectives. You will maintain strong client and faculty relationships, manage external vendors, and provide clear updates to stakeholders. This position emphasizes organizational excellence, financial oversight, and proactive problem-solving, making a tangible impact on the success of medical communications initiatives.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead and facilitate multidisciplinary project teams to ensure on-time, on-budget, and on-strategy execution.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, faculty members, and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage daily project activities including content development, advisory boards, speaker training, logistics, registration, and production of materials.
  • Develop, maintain, and reconcile project budgets, and oversee financial monitoring and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate start-up, interim, and final team meetings, maintaining schedules and providing regular updates to clients and internal teams.
  • Manage external vendors, ensuring quality deliverables and adherence to project timelines.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, standard operating procedures, and compliance with company policies.
  • Assist in training new team members and supporting process improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced scientific or medical degrees are a plus.
  • 3–5 years of project management experience in medical communications, healthcare communications, or a related field.
  • Ability to grasp and retain complex scientific information.
  • Strong financial management skills including budgeting, tracking, and reconciliation.
  • Highly organized with strong multitasking, prioritization, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access).
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to manage internal teams and client relationships effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and remotely, with flexibility and accountability.
