Engineering Manager, Invoicing Platform

In this role, you will lead a high-performing engineering team responsible for building and maintaining a mission-critical invoicing platform that processes billions of dollars in transactions. You will collaborate closely with product, finance, compliance, data science, and retail teams to deliver a scalable, reliable, and transparent platform that enhances customer trust and supports seamless commerce experiences. The role balances technical leadership with people management, guiding a team of backend engineers while shaping architecture, integrations, and operational processes. You will influence strategic decisions across the organization and ensure compliance, accuracy, and efficiency in invoicing systems. This position is remote-friendly across the U.S. and Canada, with opportunities for occasional in-person collaboration.

Accountabilities:

• Lead a team of 10+ backend engineers to develop and maintain the invoicing platform powering all orders across the ecosystem.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to unify invoicing into a scalable, modular platform that ensures clarity, transparency, and trust in customer interactions.
• Collaborate with surface-owning teams to accurately present subtotals, discounts, fees, and taxes across checkout, order status, and receipts.
• Oversee integrations with retailers and partners to provide accurate and timely invoicing data for settlements and reporting.
• Ensure compliance and financial integrity of invoicing systems, meeting regulatory requirements and maintaining customer trust.
• Drive technical strategy for scalable and high-performance financial systems and APIs.
• Mentor and develop the engineering team, fostering collaboration, technical excellence, and a high-performing culture.

• 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, with at least 2 years managing teams of 10+ engineers.
• Strong backend development expertise and experience building scalable, reliable platforms; familiarity with financial or invoicing systems is a plus.
• Proven ability to partner with product and cross-functional stakeholders to execute strategic engineering roadmaps.
• Skilled in technical decision-making, including tradeoffs between scalability, performance, and compliance.
• Experience with APIs, data models, and system integration.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence and align stakeholders at multiple levels.
• Preferred: experience with high-scale transaction-heavy platforms, e-commerce or fintech environments, 0-1 platform innovations, and regulatory compliance focus.
