This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Director of Engineering in the United States.

This role offers the opportunity to lead and scale core engineering teams responsible for the foundational systems that power critical applications. You will act as both a strategic and hands-on technical leader, shaping the architecture, code quality, and system reliability while mentoring engineers and driving team growth. This position involves overseeing multiple teams, including offshore engineers, to ensure secure, scalable, and performant services that support rapid product innovation and expansion. You will collaborate closely with product managers and other engineering leaders to align technical roadmaps with business goals, while maintaining high standards in software design, operational health, and technical excellence. The role combines visionary leadership with direct technical contribution, allowing you to influence both the current product suite and future platform evolution. You will also play a key part in fostering a collaborative and high-performing engineering culture across the organization.

Accountabilities:

·        Lead and grow multi-team engineering organization, including offshore teams, while mentoring engineers and fostering career development.

·        Define and execute technical roadmaps, ensuring platform scalability, reliability, and alignment with company goals.

·        Set and maintain high standards for system architecture, code quality, and operational excellence.

·        Contribute hands-on to planning, coding, system design, code reviews, and production support.

·        Collaborate with product management, platform teams, and other engineering leaders to deliver secure and high-performing services.

·        Oversee operational health of core systems, including uptime, performance, observability, and cost efficiency.

·        Prioritize technical debt, implement best engineering practices, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

·        Participate in hiring, onboarding, and cultivating a strong engineering culture.

Requirements

·        10+ years of software engineering experience, including 6+ years in a technical leadership or engineering management role.

·        Hands-on experience with frontend (Angular, TypeScript) and backend (Node.js, .NET) development.

·        Proven ability to balance strategic leadership with technical contribution in high-growth or startup environments.

·        Experience designing and building distributed systems, APIs, and core platform components.

·        Strong understanding of system architecture, performance optimization, and trade-offs.

·        Familiarity with infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, cloud environments, and modern DevOps principles.

·        Demonstrated success mentoring engineers, conducting performance reviews, and supporting career growth.

·        Excellent communication and collaboration skills, comfortable influencing at all organizational levels.

·        Experience with Agile methodologies and software development lifecycle (SDLC) best practices.

·        Bonus: prior experience in health tech, HR tech, or regulated domains.
