This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Data Scientist (Big Data Engineer) 2 in the United States.

We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist with a strong background in financial data engineering and business intelligence. In this role, you will support complex financial reporting, query development, and data visualization efforts for a major public-sector organization. You will collaborate with finance teams to review, improve, and implement reporting solutions using tools such as Tableau and Power BI. This position requires deep knowledge of financial business processes, data warehousing, and state-specific budget systems. The role is fully remote and offers an opportunity to contribute to impactful projects, streamline reporting processes, and ensure high-quality, accurate data insights for stakeholders.

Accountabilities:

·         Design, develop, and maintain financial and operational reports in line with organizational standards.

·         Review existing Tableau workbooks and queries, recommending and implementing improvements to align with CAPPS and current financial best practices.

·         Coordinate report design, development, UAT, and training initiatives.

·         Support data visualization efforts in Tableau, Power BI, and other BI tools.

·         Collaborate with finance teams to analyze, validate, and improve financial reporting processes.

·         Ensure all deliverables are accurate, timely, and compliant with state reporting standards.

·         Provide follow-up support for report deployment and user queries.

Requirements

·         Proven experience with Tableau Desktop, Tableau Prep, and Tableau Bridge development.

·         Strong understanding of financial business processes, budgeting, and reporting in the State of Texas (CAPPS preferred).

·         Experience with PeopleSoft and data warehouse technologies.

·         Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Office products.

·         Strong skills in business/system/data analysis and report improvement.

·         Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial data to stakeholders clearly.

·         Prior experience developing reports for visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau is highly preferred.
