This role provides a unique opportunity to lead the design and implementation of secure, scalable, and automated network architectures on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The Cloud Architect will focus on Palo Alto Firewall solutions, leveraging Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles to optimize deployment and operational efficiency. This short-term contract allows you to collaborate with engineering teams, provide expert guidance on cloud-native best practices, and ensure alignment with security and compliance standards. The position is remote, offering flexibility while engaging in high-impact, hands-on work for a fast-paced technology environment.

Accountabilities

• Lead the design and implementation of scalable Palo Alto Firewall architectures across Production and Disaster Recovery (DR) environments on GCP.
• Develop detailed network and security architecture blueprints aligned with cloud governance and compliance frameworks.
• Design and maintain reusable Terraform modules for firewall deployment, network components, and supporting GCP resources.
• Provide deployment advisory during implementation and UAT phases, validating traffic flows and integration with monitoring/logging systems.
• Produce comprehensive documentation including design diagrams, Terraform artifacts, and operational procedures.
• Conduct knowledge transfer sessions to client engineering teams to ensure smooth handover and operational continuity.

• 8+ years of professional experience in cloud architecture and network security design.
• Deep expertise with Google Cloud Platform (VPCs, IAM, Load Balancers, Service Accounts).
• Proven hands-on experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) workflows.
• Strong experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls (VM-Series or equivalent cloud-based firewalls).
• Solid understanding of cloud networking, routing, and firewall rule configuration.
• Experience designing and documenting secure, automated GCP environments.
• Excellent communication and client engagement skills.
• Ability to work remotely (~25 hours per week) and on a short-term contract (~8 weeks).
