This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Chinese Linguist – Interpretation (Part-Time, Travel) in United States.
This role offers the opportunity to provide critical language support for international and domestic engagements, working closely with operational teams to facilitate communication and mission success. You will primarily provide oral interpretation in formal meetings and office settings, while leveraging your deep understanding of Chinese language, culture, and regional affairs. The position involves periodic travel both domestically and internationally, allowing you to actively contribute to key projects in diverse environments. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to accurately convey nuance and terminology are essential to ensure effective collaboration and support across teams. This is a highly impactful, part-time role that allows you to engage directly with client personnel and influence mission outcomes.
Accountabilities:
- Provide high-quality oral interpretation in Chinese for formal meetings, briefings, and office settings.
- Conduct simultaneous and consecutive interpretation, preserving the nuance and technical terminology of speakers.
- Participate in preparation and post-engagement meetings, documenting notes and relevant information.
- Apply knowledge of international affairs, military matters, and regional security issues to enhance interpretation accuracy.
- Travel domestically and internationally on a quarterly basis to support engagements, ensuring timely participation in all phases of assignments.
Requirements
- Active in-scope Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
- Native or near-native fluency in Chinese (speaking, reading, and writing).
- Minimum of 5 years of professional interpretation experience.
- Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Deep familiarity with Chinese culture, media, and linguistic nuances.
- Valid U.S. passport and availability for quarterly travel with 30–60 days’ notice.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active in-scope TS/SCI clearance.
- Recent standardized language testing scores, ideally within the last two years.
- Familiarity or fluency in Taiwanese.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Foreign Affairs, International Politics, Military History, Chinese Studies, Interpretation, or related field.
- Experience in intelligence, military, or cryptographic communities.
