Backend Engineer (Remote - Latam)

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Backend Engineer in Latin America.

This role is ideal for a developer passionate about building high-performance, scalable backend systems. You will design, implement, and maintain robust APIs, optimize database schemas, and ensure that applications meet the highest standards of security and efficiency. Working in a collaborative and remote-first environment, you will take ownership of features from concept to production while actively contributing to software architecture decisions. The role emphasizes clean, reusable, and testable code, along with opportunities to work on innovative solutions that impact global users. Strong communication and proactive problem-solving are key to succeeding in this fast-paced, distributed team.

Accountabilities:

·         Design and implement low-latency, high-availability backend applications.

·         Build and maintain RESTful and real-time API endpoints.

·         Optimize database schemas and queries for performance and scalability (MongoDB).

·         Write reusable, testable, and secure code following best practices.

·         Own new features from specification through production release.

·         Collaborate with other developers, product owners, and cross-functional teams.

·         Proactively propose improvements to systems, processes, and code quality.

·         Maintain source code integrity and implement efficient branching/merging strategies.

·         3+ years of professional experience in backend development.

·         Proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript.

·         Experience designing and implementing RESTful and real-time APIs.

·         Solid understanding of database design, query optimization, and MongoDB architecture.

·         Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, unit and integration testing, and cloud platforms (AWS).

·         Knowledge of scalable system architecture and backend security best practices.

·         Desirable: experience with Docker, Kubernetes, microservices, serverless architectures, message queues (Kafka/RabbitMQ), monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).

·         Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and collaboration skills.

·         Ability to work remotely and take ownership of deliverables.
