As part of their remote-first tech team via Workana Premium, you’ll join as a Semi Senior Ruby on Rails Developer and lead feature work that touches both product and platform. The app is built on Rails with a sleek mobile webview — and it’s scaling fast across Europe, Japan, and the UK.

What You’ll Build

Your first months will focus on two high-impact projects:

• 🔐 A custom moderation & customer support platform to replace Zendesk — built in-house for sensitive content and fast response times
• 💌 A poetic new user feature where people match based on stories and desires — before seeing each other’s profiles.

Both projects will stretch your backend muscles and offer plenty of room to improve architecture, performance, and team processes.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Build backend functionality using Ruby on Rails
• Participate in API development, feature rollout, and system debugging
• Collaborate with frontend and mobile devs (React, Vue, Swift, Kotlin)
• Handle implementation with room to grow into more autonomy
• Learn the platform architecture and contribute to tech decisions over time

• 2–3 years of Ruby on Rails development experience
• Confident working with MySQL and backend logic
• Some experience or exposure to React or Vue (just enough to communicate)
• Comfortable working async, independently, and in English
• Growth mindset — you’re ready to take on more over time
  

Nice-to-Have

• Redis, MongoDB, or mobile app collaboration
• Prior experience in B2C platforms or privacy-heavy systems
