Job Role: Loan Portfolio Assistant

Compensation range: $2,000 AUD - $2,500 AUD / Monthly

Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement

Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Who The Client Is: The client is a specialist legal financier focused on helping individuals navigate family law matters without the burden of upfront legal costs. By assessing cases based on their legal merit rather than credit history, they provide fast, tailored funding that supports fair outcomes. Their approach is grounded in compassion, transparency, and a deep commitment to access to justice.

Role Overview: The Loan Portfolio Assistant will support the team in monitoring and managing resolved loans. This role requires strong attention to detail, proactive risk management, strong communication skills and the ability to interpret legal and financial documents. The successful candidate will be agile, responsible for tracking loan repayments, liaising with law firms and clients, monitoring the sale(s) of real property associated with the loan and assisting in the closure process of accounts. They will report to the Loan Portfolio Manager and be responsible for identifying and escalating matters with any concerning risk factors.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Resolved Loan Monitoring: Track and manage resolved loans, ensuring all relevant processes are followed.
  • Request Copy of Orders/Agreement: Follow up with legal representatives to obtain final Orders or Agreements.
  • Interpretation of Orders/Agreement Documents: Review and analyze legal documents to determine repayment obligations and financial implications.
  • Follow Up with Law Firms for Updates on Resolved Loans: Maintain regular communication with law firms to track loan resolution progress.
  • Issue Final Statement of Account: Prepare and distribute final statements to borrowers and relevant stakeholders.
  • Security Registration & Withdrawal: Assist in the registration and withdrawal of mortgages and caveats.
  • Account Closure Confirmation Processes: Send closure confirmation emails upon successful loan repayment and resolution.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in loan administration, finance, legal services, or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of financial documents, loan agreements, and legal orders.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work proactively and follow up with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Empathy and professionalism when dealing with sensitive client matters.
