Senior DevOps Engineer

We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our team and support the development, automation, and operation of cloud-based platforms for a leading customer in the financial services sector. Our client is a trusted partner to both public and private financial institutions in Germany, providing essential IT services to more than 150,000 banking workstations and over 4,500 employees. With its solutions supporting more than 60% of the German banking sector, the organization plays a key role in enabling secure, reliable, and innovative banking services.

Responsibilities

• Develop & Maintain Automation Solutions: Design, develop, and maintain automation solutions using PowerShell, Python (FastAPI), and Java to support enterprise applications and operational processes.  
• Build & Integrate Backend Services: Build, enhance, and maintain backend APIs and integrations with Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, and Microsoft Entra ID, ensuring secure and reliable connectivity.  
• Automate Identity & Access Management: Automate identity and access management tasks, user lifecycle processes, and administrative workflows to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.  
• Troubleshoot & Optimize Enterprise Applications: Troubleshoot, optimize, and support existing applications and services while collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues.  
• Drive Security & Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the continuous improvement of solutions by following security, quality, and operational best practices, with a strong focus on customer needs and banking industry standards.  

Must have

• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, or a similar role.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Azure DevOps.
• Strong experience with Docker, Kubernetes / OpenShift and Linux environments.
• Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Workflows, and GitOps practices.
• Good understanding of REST APIs, authentication, and integration concepts.
• Understanding of security best practices and platform quality.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to improve existing systems and drive DevOps best practices.
• Experience with monitoring and observability.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.  
• Customer-oriented mindset with excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Regular use of AI tools to improve productivity, automate or reduce repetitive work, support decision-making, and deliver higher-quality outcomes.
• Ability to use AI tools responsibly by structuring effective prompts, critically validating outputs, understanding limitations, and taking ownership of the final result.

Nice to have:

• Experience administering Microsoft 365, including Exchange Online and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Hands-on experience with PowerShell scripting
• Knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Familiarity with or understanding of banking-related processes 
• German language is considered a plus
