Job Description

THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting directly to the CEO, the VP of Operations is responsible for translating HTI’s strategic vision into actionable plans and designing scalable systems across global operations. This person builds systems and processes to maximize HTI’s impact and position the organization for strategic growth. The VP manages in-house finance and HR leaders, as well as external IT and Legal contractors. This leader is a “player-coach” and hands-on implementer to ensure all operations elements of the organization work cohesively, efficiently, and effectively to advance HTI’s mission.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Strategy Development and Execution:

  • Collaborate with CEO and Leadership Team to develop HTI’s vision and long-term strategy.
  • Partner with CEO, Leadership Team, and other HTI Leaders to operationalize HTI’s strategic vision, ensuring visibility into key performance indicators and processes and addressing operational challenges at their root to drive lasting solutions.

Operational Excellence:

  • Design and implement scalable systems to enhance coordination among HTI’s Program, Advancement, and Operations functions.
  • Develop HTI’s international operating model, optimizing structure, staffing, and processes.
  • Facilitate the development of policies and procedures across all aspects of the organization.

Team Leadership:

  • Manage in-house finance and human resources leaders, and outside legal and IT contractors, providing direction, accountability, and strategic oversight.

Financial Stewardship (Manage In-House Lead):

  • Partner with in-house Finance Leader to manage financial plans to optimize resource allocation, prudent cash management, and compliance with GAAP accounting, tax codes, and all applicable financial laws and regulations.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, ensuring alignment with strategic goals, donor requirements, and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Human Resources (Manage In-House Lead):

  • Partner with in-house HR Leader in the development and execution of the talent management strategy by providing executive sponsorship and advocacy.
  • Ensure staffing plans, talent acquisition, and retention strategies build cohesive, high-performing teams.
  • Consult with in-house HR Leader on all aspects of talent management, including hiring, training, performance evaluations, and conflict resolution.

Compliance & Risk Management (Manage Outside Contractors):

  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Develop risk management protocols and contingency plans to strengthen operational resiliency, including employee security and safety.
  • Manage commercial lines of insurance.

Information Technology (Manage Outside Contractor):

  • Provide overall direction on information technology strategy.
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to ensure IT systems effectively serve organizational needs, are secure, and are cost effective.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field
  • 7+ years in a senior operations role
  • Proven track record in operational leadership, strategic implementation, and financial management.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing operational strategies.
  • Strong people skills and ability to drive collaboration across functions in an international organization.
  • Financial expertise, including budget management.
  • Strong understanding of compliance and risk management.
  • Proven leadership abilities in managing, developing, and guiding cross-functional remote teams to achieve goals.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills.

WORK AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • This is a full-time, remote position for a global organization. There may be meetings that occur outside of the local 8am – 5pm, depending on your time zone.
  • Position requires domestic and international travel (<30%).
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds at times.
