Tax Specialist (U.S. Tax, 1040/1120/1065, Compliance & Planning – Remote, U.S. Hours)
About the Role
We’re hiring a Tax Specialist to manage tax preparation, compliance, and planning across individual and business clients.
In this role, you’ll prepare and review U.S. federal and state tax filings, ensure compliance with changing regulations, and support tax strategy and optimization.

Responsibilities
Tax Preparation & Filing
- Prepare and review tax returns:
- Form 1040 (Individual)
- Form 1120 (Corporate)
- Form 1065 (Partnership)
- File quarterly estimates and extensions
- Ensure all filings are accurate and submitted on time
Compliance & Regulatory Monitoring
- Track changes in IRS rules and tax regulations
- Ensure compliance across:
- Federal
- State
- Local jurisdictions
- Support filings related to:
- Sales tax
- Payroll tax
- Property tax
Tax Advisory & Planning
- Identify opportunities for:
- Tax savings
- Credits and deductions
- Advise on tax-efficient structuring of transactions
- Support international tax matters (if applicable):
- Transfer pricing
- FBAR / FATCA
Audit Support
- Prepare documentation for IRS and state audits
- Respond to tax notices and inquiries
- Maintain audit-ready records and documentation
Collaboration
- Work with finance and accounting teams during close cycles
- Coordinate with external CPAs, auditors, and advisors
Documentation & Process
- Maintain and update tax compliance SOPs
- Document tax positions, assumptions, and filings
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in U.S. tax preparation and compliance
- Proficiency with tax software:
- UltraTax, ProSeries, Drake, Lacerte (or similar)
- Familiarity with:
- IRS e-filing systems
- State tax portals
- Strong Excel / Google Sheets skills
- Deep understanding of U.S. tax codes and regulations
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Comfortable working remote during U.S. business hours
Nice to Have
- CPA, EA (Enrolled Agent), or Master’s in Taxation
- Experience with multi-state or international tax
- Industry experience in:
- SaaS
- Professional services
- Real estate
- Experience with high-net-worth individuals or closely held businesses
