Structural Steel Welder/Fitter

Location: Ashland, VA
Job Type: Full-Time, Contract-to-Hire
Shift: 1st Shift
Pay: Starting at $23.00/hour; higher depending on experience, up to $25.00/hour

Position Overview

We are hiring a Welder/Fitter to fabricate and assemble metal components used in structural and industrial applications. The ideal candidate has Fluxcore MIG welding experience, can read technical drawings, and is comfortable working with precision measuring and fitting tools.

Responsibilities

Read and follow engineering drawings, blueprints, and process specifications.
Weld, fit, and form metal components to meet required dimensions and tolerances.
Operate welding and metalworking equipment safely.
Inspect finished work and report production results according to schedules and quality requirements.
Follow established Quality Management System (QMS) procedures and workplace safety standards.
Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

Hands-on experience with Fluxcore MIG welding.
Ability to pass a flat 1G weld test; 3G welding ability is preferred.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
Familiarity with inspection tools, including micrometers, calipers, and rulers.
Basic math skills and strong attention to detail.
Ability to use squares, tape measures, Bessey clamps, reachovers, levels, and hammers.
Dependable, with good communication skills.

Preferred Qualification

TIG welding experience.
