Structural Steel Welder / Fitter

Location: York, PA
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Shift: 1st and 2nd Shift
Starting Pay: $23.00/hour — higher depending on experience

Position Overview

We are hiring experienced Structural Steel Welders and Fitters for a shop-based fabrication position. This opportunity is suited for candidates with experience in structural steel work, blueprint reading, material preparation, fitting, and welding. Candidates with a primary background in either welding or fitting are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication specifications.
  • Measure, lay out, cut, fit, and assemble structural steel components.
  • Perform structural steel welding in accordance with job requirements and industry standards.
  • Set up and operate fabrication equipment and hand tools.
  • Use oxyacetylene torches, plasma cutters, drill presses, angle presses, jigs, tape measures, and squares.
  • Set up and operate a track torch when needed.
  • Inspect materials and completed assemblies for quality and accuracy.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Work with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and deadlines.
  • Preferred

  • Flux Core welding experience.
  • Ability to pass a Flux Core welding test.
  • Experience setting up and operating a track torch.
  • AWS or other welding certifications are a plus.

  • Previous experience in structural steel welding, fitting, or fabrication.
