Structural Steel Layout Fitter – 1st & 2nd Shift

Location: Richmond, VA
Job Type: Full-Time | Contract-to-Hire
Pay Rate: Up to $28.00/hour (based on experience) + $3.00/hour shift differential for 2nd shift
Shifts Available: 1st Shift and 2nd Shift

We are looking for an experienced Structural Steel Layout Fitter to join our fabrication team in Richmond, VA. This position is ideal for candidates with hands-on experience in structural steel fitting, layout, and fabrication who take pride in producing high-quality work.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do

  • Interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and fabrication specifications.
  • Perform layout, fitting, and assembly of structural steel components.
  • Measure, mark, align, and position materials according to project requirements.
  • Set up and use fabrication equipment, including a track torch.
  • Verify dimensions and ensure all materials meet project specifications.
  • Inspect completed work for quality, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Work closely with supervisors and team members to meet production goals.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and productive work area.
  • Requirements

    Qualifications

  • Previous experience in structural steel fitting, layout, or fabrication.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Experience assembling and fitting structural steel components.
  • Ability to set up and operate a track torch.
  • Working knowledge of welding processes, fabrication equipment, and shop tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Commitment to following established safety procedures.
  • AWS certification or other welding certifications are a plus.
