Structural Steel Fabrication Technician (Welder/Fitter) – 1st & 2nd Shift

Location: Cocoa, FL
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Starting Pay: From $24.00/hour (+$3.00/hour shift differential for 2nd shift)
Schedule: 1st Shift and 2nd Shift Available
Compensation: Higher rates available based on experience.

Join Our Structural Steel Fabrication Team!

We are seeking experienced Structural Steel Welders and Structural Steel Fitters to join our growing fabrication team in Cocoa, FL. This is a shop-based, contract-to-hire opportunity for candidates with experience in structural steel fabrication, blueprint reading, material preparation, fitting, and welding.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and fabrication specifications.
  • Measure, lay out, cut, fit, and assemble structural steel components.
  • Perform structural steel welding according to project specifications and industry standards.
  • Set up and operate fabrication equipment and hand tools.
  • Use shop equipment such as oxyacetylene torches, plasma cutters, drill presses, angle presses, jigs, tape measures, and squares.
  • Set up and use a track torch when required.
  • Inspect materials and completed assemblies to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and deadlines.
  • Requirements

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Previous experience in structural steel welding, fitting, or fabrication.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Experience measuring, fitting, aligning, and assembling structural steel components.
  • Knowledge of welding techniques, fabrication tools, and shop equipment.
  • Ability to work with precision and maintain high-quality standards.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Commitment to workplace safety.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Flux Core welding.
  • Ability to pass a Flux Core welding test.
  • Experience setting up and using a track torch.
  • AWS certification or other welding certifications are a plus.
