Job Summary:

• The Supplier Quality Engineering Manager creates value by building an effective team, by managing daily operations, or by supporting initiatives that enable the function, business unit or customer to achieve its business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build strong relationships with all critical partners to improve quality and business outcomes, including: external suppliers, external customers, and internal customers and stakeholders, such as Purchasing, Manufacturing and Engineering; coach and mentor Cummins professionals on how to strengthen the soft skills required to develop effective relationships.
• Establish team capability for an assigned Product Category through coaching, mentoring, and development of critical competencies required to deliver Product Category specific results. Invest in the Supplier Quality talent pipeline by providing growth opportunities for Supplier Quality professionals that challenge the employee to transcend his/her role; coach and mentor them throughout the execution of these stretch assignments.
• Develop leadership capability by designing and leading regional initiatives that create business results or enhance the customer experience; utilize industry proven methodologies, such as lean and six-sigma; support regional implementation of business or corporate led initiatives. Partner with the regional customer (internal or external) to co-develop annual work plans that enable the customer to achieve its annual business objectives; manage the initiatives and teams to ensure successful execution.
• Ensure the proper application of industry common Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) processes, Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) tools, and Cummins specialty tools to develop zero defect components within the external supply base; coach and mentor Supplier and Cummins professionals on how to improve effectiveness of APQP execution. Ensure resolution of complex business-oriented or function-oriented quality challenges, by sponsoring root cause analysis, by sponsoring development of corrective actions and by sponsoring the verification of the effectiveness of corrective actions.
