Those who thrive here actively seek out new solutions, experiment thoughtfully, and apply what they learn to drive better, faster, smarter outcomes.</p></div><p>As a Senior Backend Software Engineer, Agent Platform<strong>, </strong>you will be tasked with joining our team supporting SentinelOne's main product line, Endpoint Protection, which secures tens of millions of devices across the globe of all kinds of OS (Windows, Linux, macOS) and processes billions of security events every day. You will provide crucial SaaS platform capabilities, including high-throughput, highly available services for policy, configuration, and command distribution to millions of agents around the world. You will collaborate closely with agent detection, agent health, and core platform teams to turn new protection ideas into robust, operable capabilities at scale.</p> <h3>What Will You Do?</h3> <p>Primary responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li>Design, develop, implement, test, document, and operate large-scale, high-volume, and low latency applications, built to handle several millions of events per second.</li> <li>Translate business and functional requirements into robust, scalable, operable solutions that work well within the overall data architecture.</li> <li>Participate and collaborate with cross-functional teams in both your organization and other organizations at S1, to understand the business requirements and to deliver solutions that can scale.</li> <li>Maintain application stability and data integrity by monitoring key metrics and improving the codebase accordingly.</li> <li>Understand and maintain the existing codebase by regular re-factoring and applying requested fixes and features.</li> <li>Learn new technologies that can solve our huge volume of data and the challenges it poses.</li> <li>Build the agent platform protocol for other SentinelOne teams to build upon and ship new security and detection capabilities safely and quickly, while ensuring the reliability, scalability, and observability of the agent fleet in production so customers and internal teams have real-time insight into fleet health and coverage.</li> <li>Work with our toolkit, developing new components primarily in Java (with Go and Python also used in our current backend environment); facilitating communication between microservices using gRPC, REST, GraphQL APIs, and Kafka depending on specific requirements; using Redis, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, ClickHouse, and our own columnar time-series database for efficient event storage and retrieval at scale; deploying services across multiple AWS/GCP regions with Kubernetes; and using tools such as Docker, GitHub, and ArgoCD, along with company access to various modern AI-powered tools for both R&amp;D and non-R&amp;D tasks.</li> </ul> <h3>What Skills and Knowledge Will You Bring?</h3> <p>Ideal candidates will have:</p> <ul> <li>Multiple years of professional backend development experience in Java (preferred) and/or Golang, understanding of Python is a plus.</li> <li>Ability to quickly dive into new products and understand their inner workings.</li> <li>A self-driven approach as an individual contributor.</li> <li>Experience with designing large-scale high-load distributed systems and their performance.</li> <li>Experience with AWS, GCP, and/or other cloud platforms, and with Docker, Helm, and Kubernetes.</li> <li>Excellent communication skills, as you will be regularly in touch with Product, Technical Account Managers (who provide feedback from clients), and other cross-functional teams, and you will put into use your ability to influence technical direction and mentor others.</li> <li>Experience with Kafka, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis.</li> <li>Experience in an enterprise SaaS company or cybersecurity software company is highly preferred.</li> </ul> <h3>Why SentinelOne?</h3> <p>AI is redefining how the world operates and rewriting the rules of security in real time, and SentinelOne was built for this moment.
