Dane Street, a nationally recognized Independent Review Organization (IRO) and leading provider of Utilization Review (UR) services, is expanding our panel of expert physician reviewers. We are actively seeking Board-Certified Orthopedic Spine Surgery Specialists with an active Illinois medical license to perform independent medical reviews on a flexible, remote (telework) basis.

This is a non-clinical, 1099 contract opportunity, ideal for physicians interested in earning supplemental income while maintaining an active clinical practice.

Position Details

• Specialty Needed: Orthopedic Surgery – Spine
• License Required: Active, unrestricted Illinois medical license
• Employment Type: Independent contractor (1099)
• Location: Remote / Telework
• Compensation: Per-case payment (average case takes 15–20 minutes)
• Workload: You choose your own schedule and number of cases
• Start Date: Onboarding and training completed in under one week

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct objective, evidence-based reviews of spinal treatment requests
• Provide medical necessity determinations and opinions on appealed cases
• No patient interaction or direct clinical care—this is an advisory-only role
• Submit reviews through Dane Street’s secure, user-friendly online platform

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted Illinois Medical License
• Board Certification in Orthopedic Surgery with fellowship training or extensive experience in Spine Surgery
• Active clinical practice
• Excellent written communication and documentation skills
