Mechanical Design Engineer – Power Equipment

Location: Marietta, OH
Job Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire

Position Overview

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the development and improvement of power protection equipment, including switchboards, Power Distribution Units (PDUs), and power panels. This hands-on role combines mechanical design, prototyping, documentation, testing, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop mechanical designs and documentation for new and enhanced power protection equipment.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality designs that meet customer and project requirements.
  • Participate in design reviews and verification activities, incorporating feedback and making design improvements.
  • Design and release mechanical prototypes, support fabrication, and lead improvements based on prototype results.
  • Independently lead smaller engineering projects and coordinate activities required to meet project requirements.
  • Collaborate with Production, Supply Chain, Service, and other business functions to ensure product designs support operational needs.
  • Support product customization, lifecycle management, ECN, and product optimization activities.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline.
  • 2+ years of relevant professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of power protection equipment and the data center market.
  • Ability to interpret and apply electrical safety standards, including UL and IEC, to product designs.
  • 2+ years of experience with SolidWorks CAD design software, including thermal and structural evaluation.
  • Experience with PLM software.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal design, detail part drawings, assembly drawings, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
  • Experience with test fixtures and fixture design.
  • Familiarity with switchboards, Power Distribution Units (PDUs), UL 891, and UL 508 panels.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Collaborative, solution-focused approach with the ability to contribute effectively within a team environment.
  • Strong workload management and organizational skills.
  • Technical writing experience is a plus.
