Manager of HR & Compliance
Location: Charlottesville, VA — Onsite preferred, remote possible

About the Role
We’re seeking a highly skilled Manager of HR & Compliance to lead and develop key HR functions across multiple companies and states. The ideal candidate is experienced, confident, and capable of managing complex compliance, benefits, and employee relations matters with professionalism and integrity.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in Human Resources and Compliance management (multi-state and international exposure preferred)
- Strong understanding of employment law across multiple U.S. states
- Demonstrated success in benefits setup and administration (healthcare, 401k, policies, etc.)
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage sensitive situations with professionalism and a thick skin
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, multi-entity environment
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage all aspects of onboarding, benefits administration, and employee relations
- Handle employment-related legal disputes and ensure compliance with federal and multi-state employment laws
- Set up and formalize employee policies, benefits packages, and 401(k)/healthcare programs
- Support HR operations for multiple affiliated companies and employees across various states and countries
- Manage relationships with external vendors, benefits providers, and compliance partners
- Coordinate and manage physical mail and documentation related to HR and compliance functions
- Provide strategic HR guidance and serve as a trusted advisor to company leadership
