About the Role

PowerFlo is looking for a hands-on Field Service Technician to install, commission, troubleshoot, and maintain mission-critical power distribution equipment, primarily in data center environments.

This position is suited for an experienced electrical service professional who can work independently in the field, troubleshoot complex equipment, communicate effectively with customers and internal teams, and maintain accurate service documentation.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

  • Install, start up, test, and commission power distribution systems.
  • Perform system verification, functional testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Configure and troubleshoot HMIs and control interfaces.
  • Diagnose and repair 3-phase power systems, transformers, high-voltage components, switchgear, and distribution equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues using schematics, one-line diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
  • Apply systematic root-cause analysis in live infrastructure environments.
  • Serve as the onsite technical point of contact and coordinate with engineering and internal teams.
  • Train operators and maintenance personnel on equipment and system operation.
  • Communicate system conditions, findings, and recommended next steps clearly by phone, email, and service reports.
  • Document labor, parts, service activities, and technical findings in the company system of record.
  • Identify recurring equipment issues and recommend product or process improvements.
  • Help develop service procedures, technical documentation, training materials, and internal knowledge resources.
  • Follow applicable electrical codes and safety requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Bring

Required:

  • 3–7+ years of experience in field service, electrical service, or a related technical role.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting abilities.
  • Working knowledge of 24V, 120V, and 480V systems.
  • Basic PLC troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience working with fuses, breakers, and transformers.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 75%+, including occasional short-notice travel.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Strong documentation skills and attention to detail.
  • Preferred:

    • Data center power infrastructure experience.
    • Familiarity with switchgear, UPS systems, PDUs, RPPs, or similar equipment.
    • Commissioning experience.
    • OSHA or other formal safety training.
