Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator

Location: Richmond, VA
Job Type: Direct Hire
Starting Salary: From $70,000/year (Higher compensation available based on experience.)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator to support workplace safety programs in a manufacturing and fabrication environment. This hands-on role focuses on hazard identification, employee engagement, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement while helping maintain a safe and productive workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an active presence throughout production and fabrication areas.
  • Monitor daily operations to identify workplace hazards and safety concerns.
  • Promote safe work practices and a positive safety culture.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections and document findings.
  • Track corrective actions and follow through to completion.
  • Support compliance with company safety policies and applicable regulations.
  • Assist with new hire safety orientation, training, toolbox talks, and safety meetings.
  • Provide safety coaching and guidance to employees and supervisors.
  • Assist with incident, injury, and near-miss investigations, including root cause analysis.
  • Help implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain safety records, training documentation, inspection reports, and compliance files.
  • Support ongoing improvements to safety programs and procedures.

  • Requirements

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Risk Management, Industrial Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in safety, EHS, risk management, manufacturing, or an industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety practices, hazard recognition, and incident investigation.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with employees at all levels.
  • ASP, CSP, or other professional safety certifications are preferred.
