Job Description

Developer Advocate - Climate & Sustainability

Location: Remote - US only

Compensation: Competitive

We are a fast-growing software company committed to supporting a high-performance, open-source, proof-of-stake platform. Our platform is EVM-compatible and built specifically to meet the needs of enterprise and Web3 applications, demanding speed, security, and sustainability. We are seeking a Developer Advocate to focus on Climate and Sustainability initiatives in the Americas, acting as the technical bridge to drive the adoption of decentralized solutions for ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) goals.

You will be at the forefront of the platform's latest developments, focusing on how climate-oriented decentralized applications (dApps) can be effectively built using the platform's native services and specialized solutions (e.g., the Guardian platform). Your work will architect and drive the adoption of decentralized tools for sustainability, enabling organizations to meet their ESG objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Developer Guidance: Guide developers in building sustainable applications (e.g., carbon tracking, tokenization of environmental assets) using the platform and its Guardian solution.
  • Methodology Development: Develop and guide users to create digitized, open-source methodologies based on standards for carbon markets, GHG emissions tracking, and ESG reporting.
  • Technical Advocacy: Advocate for using blockchain technology to tackle climate challenges, with a focus on climate finance and environmental sustainability.
  • Platform Improvement: Act as a bridge between the developer community and core engineering teams, gathering feedback to inform product development (including contributing to Improvement Proposals).
  • Content Creation: Develop proofs of concept (PoCs), sample dApps, and smart contracts using Solidity and native services to showcase capabilities in climate finance.
  • Community Engagement: Actively engage with the developer community across multiple channels (online forums, conferences, hackathons), and create educational content (e.g., video tutorials, podcasts).

Requirements

  • Blockchain Understanding: A strong understanding of blockchain protocols, Web3 APIs, bridges, oracles, custodians, and overall dApp architecture.
  • Sustainability Passion: Deep passion for sustainability and a strong interest in using blockchain technology to address climate change and environmental challenges.
  • Climate Finance Knowledge: Strong understanding of climate finance, including carbon credits, renewable energy certificates, and environmental markets.
  • ESG Expertise: Understanding of ESG reporting frameworks and how decentralized solutions can support transparency and trust.
  • Technical Problem-Solving: Proven problem-solving abilities in debugging smart contracts and dApps built using Solidity or other blockchain-specific languages.
  • Mindset: Entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to act with high autonomy and direction.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves):

  • Coding Proficiency: Proficiency in Solidity and experience developing smart contracts on Ethereum or other EVM-compatible blockchains.
  • Platform Specifics: Knowledge and proven experience in the platform's native services (e.g., Token Service, Consensus Service) and the Guardian platform.
  • Experience: Experience working on blockchain projects specifically related to sustainability or climate action.
  • Community Involvement: Active contributor to developer communities, GitHub repositories, or open-source projects.
  • Public Skills: Public speaking and presentation skills (talks, demos, live coding sessions).
  • Network: A deep network within the Web3/blockchain ecosystem, especially among Solidity developers.
