CNC Sheet Metal Punch Press Operator

Location: Baltimore, MD
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Starting Pay: From $20.00/hour (Higher pay available based on experience)

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled CNC Sheet Metal Punch Press Operator to produce precision sheet metal components in a manufacturing environment. This role requires experience setting up and operating CNC turret punch presses, reading blueprints, verifying part quality, and maintaining efficient production with minimal material waste.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC turret punch press equipment
  • Install tooling and verify machine programs before production
  • Load and unload sheet material safely
  • Confirm material type, thickness, finish, and revision level before production
  • Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections
  • Measure finished parts using tape measures, calipers, and templates
  • Read blueprints and work instructions to ensure accurate production
  • Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain quality
  • Remove and deburr finished parts as needed
  • Maintain work-in-process identification and organize completed jobs
  • Help reduce scrap while maximizing material usage
  • Complete production paperwork accurately
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean work area
  • Equipment & Skills

  • CNC Turret Punch Presses
  • Trumpf TruPunch, Amada Pega, Prima Power, Finn-Power, Salvagnini, or equivalent
  • Precision measuring tools (calipers, tape measures, templates)
  • Blueprint and engineering drawing interpretation
  • Tooling setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Requirements

    Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of CNC turret punch press experience
  • Experience with Trumpf TruPunch, Amada Pega, Prima Power, Finn-Power, Salvagnini, or similar machines
  • Able to complete machine setups and tooling changes independently
  • Experience working with aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon steel
  • Ability to read blueprints, engineering drawings, and manufacturing documents
  • Knowledge of punch tooling, clearances, sheet layout, and material optimization
  • Forklift experience is a plus
  • Physical Requirements

  • Stand for extended periods
  • Lift up to 50 pounds
  • Frequently bend, reach, and handle sheet metal safely
