Job Title: CNC Press Brake Operator
Location: Newport News, VA
Job Type: Full-time | First and Third Shift Available

A long-standing and reputable precision sheet metal manufacturer with over 40 years of industry experience is seeking a skilled CNC Press Brake Operator to join their growing team. Operating out of a 60,000 sq. ft. facility, the company specializes in delivering high-quality sheet metal components for a variety of industries in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
Position Summary:
The CNC Press Brake Operator is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating press brake machines to bend, form, and shape metal components according to engineering specifications. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, experience in sheet metal fabrication, and the ability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Shift Information:
Training: Conducted on third shift (12:00 AM – 8:30 AM)
First Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Candidates must be flexible to train on third shift before transitioning to first.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of experience operating CNC press brakes
- Ability to interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Familiarity with materials like galvanized steel, aluminum, and stainless steel
- Proficient in using calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and math skills
- Physically able to lift 50–75 lbs, stand for long periods, bend, twist, squat
- Comfortable working in both hot and cold environments
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with graphical CNC interfaces
- Strong situational awareness and organizational skills
- Background in lean manufacturing or process improvement
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up machines, retrieve programs, and select proper tooling
- Perform quality checks using precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers)
- Conduct routine maintenance and diagnose machine issues
- Maintain accurate production records
- Program CNC interface for light gauge panel bending
- Work independently and make sound fabrication decisions
